Keeping Artistic Legacy

Keeping Artistic Legacy | Center for Art Law

Keeping artistic legacy alive is not a sprint, it’s a marathon. Those who are entrusted to take care of the works left by an artist and those who stand to benefit from their work and gifts, need to recognize the meticulous work that will go into developing and maintaining the artist’s post-mortem legacy. All involved must understand preservation, putting to use the epherema in the artist’s estate, and displaying the physical while considering the intangible properties of the artist’s oeuvre.

Join the Center for Art Law for a conversation with Sing Lee Lathan, Creative Director and Producer, and Sekou Campbell, attorney and Partner at Culhane Meadows PLLC, moderated by Irina Tarsis, the Center’s Founder and Managing Director. Speakers will discuss the real and hypothetical, fiduciary and contractual requirements to comply with instruments setting up artist-endowed foundations and skills needed to navigate the possible and/or probable complications that may arise when following or modifying wills of founders.

The Center for Art Law is proud to present this event in connection with its Artist Legacy and Estate Planning Clinic. Programs in affiliation with the clinic are designed to guide artists and collectors on how to plan in advance on what to do with their work and collection after their death.
