Artist Legacy and Estate Planning Clinic
February 18, 2026
About this event
Calling all visual artists: join the Center for Art Law’s Artist Legacy and Estate Planning Clinic for an evening of low-cost consultations with attorneys, tax experts, and other arts professionals with experience in estate and legacy planning.
This event began with a 25 minute presentation, tailored specifically to artists and art collectors, on legacy and estate planning by Attorney and Professor Dave Bright. Mr. Bright provided guidance as to the logistics of planning for the preservation of an artist’s oeuvre and legacy by detailing which documents need to be prepared, who to get in touch with, when in the process of estate planning to contact these professionals and potential options for philanthropic contributions. He discussed how to navigate specific challenges which are unique to artists when it comes to legacy and estate planning.
After the presentation, attendees with consultation tickets were paired with one of the Center’s volunteer professionals (attorneys, appraisers and financial advisors) for a confidential 20-minute consultation.
