American Bar Association: Arts & Cultural Heritage Law Committee “This committee is composed of attorneys with an interest in the field of art, cultural heritage, and cultural property law and who work in a variety of settings, including private practice, museums, government, and academia. This area of law is concerned with both movable and immovable property of artistic, cultural, religious and historic interest. Topics recently considered by the committee include the 1970 UNESCO Convention and international trade in antiquities, underwater cultural heritage, art works stolen during the Holocaust, ratification of the 1954 Hague Convention on the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict, and the impact of war on the cultural heritage of Iraq.”
American Society of International Law: Cultural Heritage and the Arts Interest Group “This Interest Group brings together practitioners, government officials, museum officials, scholars, and students with an interest in the international law of cultural heritage and the arts. The group’s activities include publishing a newsletter, sponsoring panels and lectures on related topics, and promoting an exchange of ideas through the group’s list serve.”
The Florida Bar: Entertainment, Arts and Sports Law Section (“EASL”) “provides a forum for members to share in the technical and legal knowledge which relates to the entertainment, arts and sports law industries, and to provide a standard and goal setting mechanism to improve the practice of entertainment, arts and sports law by Florida lawyers.”
International Bar Association: Art, Cultural Institutions and Heritage Law Committee “This committee is concerned with all aspects of law as it relates to art, artists, and cultural heritage in the broadest context. ‘Art law’ is an interdisciplinary field involving tax, commercial transactions, intellectual property and private and public international law.”
NY City Bar Association: Art Law Committee “The Art Law Committee addresses itself to the many areas of the law that have an impact on art and the art world. These include legal issues relating to the authenticity of art, copyright, moral rights, title, business transactions, insurance, museums and more.”
NY State Bar Association: Entertainment, Arts and Sports Law Section “The Committees of the Entertainment Arts and Sports Law Section include some of the most active committees in the New York State Bar Association. Committee meetings are held throughout the year, with many of the meetings being approved for MCLE credit. In order to increase our members’ awareness of these valuable meetings, an archive containing the descriptions of these meetings is now being provided. In the future, the course materials distributed at these meetings will also be provided as an exclusive benefit of Section membership.
