Center for Art Law Showcase: Judith Bresler Fellowship
July 18, 2025
About this Event
Along with a desire to forge meaningful connections between law and the arts, the Center for Art Law is committed to educating visual artists and the attorneys who defend them. In recognition of the numerous contributions that Judith Bresler (1946-2020) made to advance the art law field as a lawyer, professor, author, mentor, and advocate for the arts, the Center for Art Law is offering the Judith Bresler Fellowship, a one year long fellowship, to recent law school graduates. In her memory, the Center is proud to offer the Fellowship to candidates who exhibit many of the gifts, qualities, and passions that Judith so beautifully embodied.
The Center for Art Law showcase introduced the Fellowship’s mission, application process, and the critical work that fellows undertake during their term. During the showcase all three of the past Judith Bresler Fellows: Atreya Mathur (2021–2022), Patrick K. Lin (2023–2024), and Carla Frade (2024–2025), shared their experiences as the fellow and running the Center’s legal clinics (including the Immigration Clinic, the Legacy and Estate Planning Clinic, the Copyright Clinic, and the Artist-Dealer Relationships Clinic), bootcamps and other critical prorgams and initiatives.
Through hands-on work with artists and legal professionals, as well as opportunities to contribute to research, writing, and public programming, the Fellowship provides a unique opportunity to develop practical skills in art law for a full year while working closely with the Center’s team and Boards. Watch the recording of the session and learn all about it and how to apply for the Fellowship!
