Exploring Artists’ Estates: Legal Considerations for Third Parties and Heirs
June 3, 2025
About this event
Commercially exploring a deceased artist’s estate can be a difficult field to navigate, as attested by the controversies involving the Vivian Maier and Hilma af Klimt estates. This workshop discuss what legal precautions third parties should take when commercially exploring an artist’s estate, and what resources are available to heirs who feel that the promotion of the artist’s legacy warrants consideration.
This event is part of the Center for Art Law’s Visual Artists Legal Clinic programming.
