Legal Implications of Gallery Closures for Artists

The New York art scene has seen over a dozen of galleries close in the past two years. When done improperly, these can present of legal issues for artists. In this Art Law Lunch Talk, attendees heard from artist Nicolas Coleman on what were some of the legal issues that he faced, and from attorney Daniel Weiner on how artists can protect themselves going forward.

Speakers:
NICOLAS COLEMAN is an artist originally from Durham, North Carolina. He received his B.A. in Political Science from Duke University in 2020. He has exhibited his artwork in eight countries and recently completed a residency at Black Rock Senegal in Dakar. Prior to working full-time as an artist, Nicolas worked at Bank of America and BNP Paribas in corporate and investment banking. In the fall, Nicolas will begin law school in California.
