Center for Art Law and NYU Law’s Art Law Society welcomed renowned journalist, Eileen Kinsella, in examining art market fraud stories with focus on the career of art dealer Inigo Philbrick.
Drawing on her extensive experience covering art fraud, Eileen shared how she uncovers stories in the field and the investigative tactics she uses to pursue her leads. She examined Inigo Philbrick’s rise in the contemporary art market, the legal issues surrounding his business practices, and the fallout from his actions. Participants learned about the hundreds of millions in alleged fraud, falsified contracts, and other deceptive practices that brought his career to an end. The discussion also explored the broader implications for transparency, trust, and accountability in the art market.
